The description sounded interesting to me -- by the way, "seinen" is the older version of "shounen", so I'm thinking this is what most people would call a shounen-ai series only with twentysomething rather than teenage protagonists... and I'm curious about the "pseudo-archaic" Japanese, AND he's already got things scanned...
but I know my own tendency to jump in to things and get waaaaaaay over my head, so I thought I'd ask here first if it sounded like something S-C.net might be interested in doing as a joint project with the Juppon Gatana group he leads? (I know he doesn't want to give up the project entirely, but I also know he's extremely cool with the idea of tag-teaming things with other groups...)
...And does anyone know if there was a Chinese version so I wouldn't necessarily be the only translator able to do it, given that it's going to take me a while to get through the six (at least) books of God Child...?

Also, Basilisk is a new manga, the first tankouban just came out last June. And I don't know how fast Chinese companies translate stuff.
(Although I heard some use the magazine chapters and can therefore release tanks before the Japanese companies... Wow.)
Yowza... when your informant said "speaking a dialect" they weren't kidding!
I don't think I'm qualified to handle this, based on the couple pages I looked at. For one thing, they aren't consistently using furigana, and the kanji they're using without furigana are just NOT anything I've ever seen before. Even without recognizing the kanji, I can tell from the radicals and the peculiar arrangements that they're pulling in some waaay funky stuff.
The grammar's all familiar, but there are five or six places on just those two sample pages where the kanji are far enough out there that I suspect I'd have to check with either a native speaker or my friend Dave Fleming (a professional here in town, he did the uncut version of Escaflowne and Big O and Outlaw Star and so on) to be anywhere near confident of what they were getting at.
So at this point my advice would be to see if either there is a Chinese version or to find native Japanese speakers or people with upwards of five or six years of classes and a couple years of actually living in Japan...
Sorry to disappoint everyone, I thought it sounded like a cool and interesting project, but I make no bones about admitting when I'm just plain outclassed. ^^;;;;;
To put it in approximately English-language-speaker terms, I'm somebody who can pretty easily read from now back to Mark Twain-version differences in modernism of speech. This stuff looks more like King James/Marlowe/Shakespeare-version different from the modern structures... I can read big chunks of it, but there are pieces I just don't feel confident about handling (for example, most modern English speakers wouldn't know to get "why" out of Shakespeare's "wherefore," or "idiotic" out of Shakespeare's "nice").
And it would take me so long to pin down those unknown pieces securely (via running them through a busy professional who has no particular reason to do freebie work when he's in over his head on stuff he gets paid for) that you really aren't going to want to wait on me for it...

Hey there. As you can see, I am Shishio-sama from the Anime Lyrics forum. I am glad you're interested in Basilisk, but I feel I should make a few clarifications.
Yes, seinen is a more adult shonen... Naruto is shonen, Berserk is seinen for example. I suppose definitions can vary, and hell, I don't even speak Japanese, so I rely on others that do.
Anyway, Basilisk is seinen, but not shonen-ai. I'm guessing you thought it was shonen-ai upon learning from my story synopsis that the leaders of the rival ninja clans (The Koga and Iga.) are in love with each other. But, one is a female, the other is male. So it's like Romeo and Juliet I guess... But more violent, and with ninjas. Yay.
And yes, I am perfectly cool with working with you guys on it.
Hmm... I think that's all I needed to say.
